Court Suspends Egypt's Constituent Assembly

Egypt's Supreme Administrative Court has ordered the Constituent Assembly suspended, say8ng its formation was in contradiction to last year's constitutional declaration, and it was unrepresentative. The ruling is a blow to the Islamist-dominated assembly, but what happens next is difficult to discern; The whole constitutional declaration itself, and the whole transition process, have been rather ad hoc creations, and the court's ruling might be overruled by SCAF, or may provide the legal outlet to escape from an increasingly embarrassing situation with major sectors of Egyptian society boycotting the assembly.
